The One Minute Geographer: This Fragile Earth (13) Another Sphere: The Atmosphere

The main point in this post is to realize, as we did with water, just how little air there actually is girdling our earth. Look at the diagram above. That diagram shows what the volume of all the air encircling the earth would be if it were contained within a ball at standard air pressure at sea level.
