Mark I happened to have recently read One day of Life by Manlio Argueta. (How many books available in English are set in El Salvador?) The violence and hardships the people lived through were amazing. That was in the days of the civil wars. I guess after that, gangs and drug lords became the new outlet for violence. I'm glad things are improving.
